Just a spoon full of (locally sourced) honey...

“An allergy is an overaggressive immune response triggered by ingesting certain foods or inhaling an irritant.”1

Allergies come in all forms and they affect over 50 million people in the United States, such as:

Allergic Rhinitis or Hay Fever – an immune response to pollen, pet dander, dust, etc.

Food allergies – an immune response to foods like gluten, peanuts, shellfish, etc.

Skin allergies – eczema, hives, latex, etc.

Insect allergies – an immune response to insect bites or stings, like bees, ants, etc.

Drug allergies – an immune response to drugs like Penicillin, over-the-counter or prescription medication

With so many people having allergies, it’s no wonder why our immune systems are not functioning properly! Allergies are the 5th most common disease among Americans and 3rd most common disease among children under 18.2

Now that you know how prevalent allergies are in your everyday life. What are some natural ways to help prevent or lessen them? There are several natural options to tackle the annoying allergy or allergies that plague you daily. Here is a list of natural approaches to help with your allergies during allergy season:

  1. Elimination Diet – if you eliminate certain foods in your diet one at a time, it can help you determine which food is causing irritation
  2. Herbal Supplements –   herbs like Eyebright, Milk thistle, Red clover, and Stinging nettles can help reduce irritation and inflammation.
  3. Homeopathy – recommended dosages of homeopathic medicine like Allium cepa, Euphrasia, Natrum muriaticum, nux vomica can help reduce itchy throat, runny nose and sneezing.
  4. Acupuncture – it helps balance the adrenal glands

And of course, don’t forget to get adjusted! Chiropractic care has a fantastic effect on the nervous system and boost your immunity!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask your Chiropractor what recommendations they may have for you.
